CANCELLATION POLICY
If you register for an event but cannot make it for any reason, please notify the leader as a courtesy so they can update the registration list. If you cancel on the day of the event, please phone or text the leader ASAP so they will know not to wait for you.
EVENT DETAILS
For those new to the club, Camp Miata started back in 1996 when the club hosted the Miata Games at Road Atlanta to coincide with the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. The club members were so exhausted after organizing and running the Miata Games that they decided to escape to the mountains for a long camping weekend for some rest and relaxation. Over the years, the event has become an annual get-away weekend with plenty of food, fun, and zoomin' rides! What started as a rustic camping event back in 1996 has evolved into mountain cabins and resort hotels today. It's the same spirit of fun and camaraderie with more comfortable accommodations!
The 30th anniversary of Camp Miata will be held in Sylva NC this year! Originally established as a railroad town back in 1880, Sylva today is a small mountain town (population ~2500) and has been the Jackson County seat since 1913. Join us for a fun-filled weekend - or just come up for a day or two if you prefer. This is the club's annual get-away and always a fun time together. See full schedule below.
Sylva is a great location for zoomin' the mountains with lots of famous, twisty roads to explore in proximity including Cherohala Skyway (NC 143), Moonshiner (NC 28), Tail of the Dragon (US 129), The Rattler (NC 209), Foothills Parkway, Waterfall Byway, Newfound Gap Road, Pisgah Loop, and Forest Heritage Scenic Byway just to name a few. There are club rides planned for both Friday and Saturday along with lots of socializing and fun in the evenings. We will be updating this event page as more details are finalized.
The nearby town of Dillsboro (3 miles from Silva) has numerous highly rated popular restaurants, taverns, and a micro-brewery. In addition, Sylva is conveniently located to other mountain destinations:

COST
$25 per person. The club subsidizes this event to cover the catered dinner on Saturday night, event t-shirts, games, decorations, and prizes to lower the overall cost for individual members and their guests.
HOTEL INFORMATION
The Comfort Inn Sylva Cullowhee in the scenic Nantahala National Forest will be our HQ for the weekend and is located just 1.5 miles from downtown Sylva. The hotel is 100% smoke free with amenities that include free coffee, free hot breakfast, free Wi-Fi, free parking, fitness center, outdoor pool, business center, and a large meeting room. BEVERAGE POLICY
Please note that the hotel permits guests to bring their own beverages into the meeting room including beer, wine, and soda. They do not permit hard liquors. The hotel provides complimentary coffee and hot tea. The caterer will provide iced tea on Saturday night. If guests want any other beverages, they should plan to bring their own.
FOOTBALL THEME NIGHT - SATURDAY NIGHT
Since it will be the end of summer and the start of fall football season, we are asking everyone to wear your favorite football team jersey or shirt for Saturday night's group dinner.
FRIDAY 8/21 - BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY RIDE

Everyone will depart together and head south and east out of Sylva, onto the Blue Ridge Parkway. We'll have lunch at Rocky Face Tavern. https://www.therockyfacetavern.com/
After lunch, both groups will ride to Dollar General south of Canton and then split into 2 groups (Scenic or Sporty) based on their driving preference for the return route. Please select your preference when registering for each ride.
SCENIC GROUP - This group will continue at a leisurely pace at or below posted speed limit to ensure that everyone stays together. We will continue on the scenic route down 215 and up the Blue Ridge Parkway and should arrive back at the hotel about 3:30 PM.
SPORTY GROUP - This group will take a different route at a quicker pace with more focus on the road and curves, and less on the scenery. We will split off and ride The Rattler https://maps.app.goo.gl/pvrioe1UUe5gFY4n8and should arrive back at the hotel about 5:00 PM.

Everyone will depart together and head south on 107 to Highlands, then up 28 past Bridal Veil Falls into Franklin, where we'll stop for a break at Food Lion. We'll take Moonshiner 28 at a casual pace, then into Bryson City for lunch. Lunch location will be up to individual selection. Good choices are The Tuck and Table, Everette Street Diner, Vallarta Mexican Restaurant, Native Brews, and Wize Guyz Grille.
After lunch, we will split into 2 groups (Scenic or Sporty) based on their driving preference for the return route. Please select your preference when registering for each ride.
SCENIC GROUP - This group will continue at a leisurely pace at or below posted speed limit to ensure that everyone stays together. We will continue on the original route, which goes through Cherokee, over the Blue Ridge Parkway, down into Sylva and should arrive back at the hotel about 3:30 PM.
SPORTY GROUP - This group will take a different route at a quicker pace with more focus on the road and curves, and less on the scenery. We will run Moonshiner 28 and Wayah Road https://maps.app.goo.gl/hzBEHPBVyv7Lixe97 and arrive back at the hotel about 5:00 PM.
